After having one to one with my tutor, he recommended that I look at this animation that shows the story of a young girl's grief of her father.

This animation contains a strong metaphorical narrative, that tell a deeper story through minimalistic visuals.
The highlight of this video comes in the form of the father and daughter riding their bikes together, up to the top of a hill. The bikes are meant to represent the everyday action that we do and this instance shows the father and daughter riding together through life with ease. The hill represents the obstacles or up hill battle that life naturally throws at us.
The father ends up walking away from the daughter at the top of the hill, which leaves the daughter having to ride up the hill by herself. The father leaving symbolises the father passing away, whilst the daughter returning to that spot on the hill a number of times connotes the idea that the daughter constantly revisits the memory of the exact point where she loses her father. The daughters life is shown as a struggle after her father goes, which is meant to signify the process of grief and the mental health that that entails.
This video has no technical aspects that I wish to borrow from but the display of a strong metaphor of the narrative in the visuals is something which I could use. Perhaps the binary opposite negative and positive mental states my character goes through could be represented through the use of colour or lighting changes.
