From studying this tutorial video, I have found a way to apply a layer of effects over the entire film. This immediately is more time efficient than having to apply the effect to one clip at a time.
The process involves selecting the new item button in assembly, where from which the option is given to apply an adjustment layer to the timeline.
Once the layer is above all of the clip in the timeline, effects can be added in by dragging the effect tool from the affects menu.
This is where I will find the colour balance tools and be able to manipulate the colour gradient.
